AAES 6H Red Bull Ring R3

Round 3 of the Australasia Endurance Series has been done and complete. Unfortunately a very up and down event, with some positives and negatives across the team. Hear from the team:

Final Results

OES Green - P9 - PRO/AM Win

"Really solid result for the 556 car, the start was strong with us ending up in P8 but a few collisions with other cars dropped us down with some damage.

We recovered well after getting in our gap, didn't really have the pace of the cars ahead but good consistency and managed to really extend the stints.

A drive through cost us a position in the end but we over-achieved with P9 thanks to some misfortune for others. Mega job by the team!" - Cam Thistlethwaite

OES Orange - P16

"Start of the race was tight with top 4 going at it. Got a good run out of T1 and excitement got the better of me taking 3 cars in one piece of track. Accidentally turned TC to 0 and spun in T2. From there it was a nursing a damaged car until stint timer ran down 35 mins. Stint 2 was solid with no issues. Stint 3 and 4 was solid and Kewley keeping it mostly between the lines and putting in some good laps. I accidentally flicked up the gearshift while trundling down the pitlane in Stint 5 which meant a SG30. Stint 6 was just bringing her home." - Phil Antoon

OES Blue - P17

"The team started the day full of optimism after a lightning lap from Jamie on Saturday had bagged us pole position. We started well and spent the first stint in a tight battle over the top three spots. Unfortunately, things took a turn for the worse in the latter half of the race. As we pushed for a late comeback, some driver errors and drive-through penalties for track limit violations dropped us outside the top ten. Overall, a tough day for OES Blue, but as always the camaraderie was great and we'll be back strong for the final round at the Nordschleife!" - Jon Carter

OES Black - P21

"Pace wasn't really there from the start, we struggled to get the car setup for all 3 drivers styles. Hendo kept it clean on the start. he ended up having a spin a few laps later but made the positions back but we had 20 sec damage to repair. My stint i gained a few spots but got a 10 penalty for contact and a car was blocking pit entry. The rest of the race was clean and we managed to get back to p21." - Maddison T

Championship positions are still undecided, but we're looking at our Orange and Blue teams still very high, if not in the lead of the championship after a rough round. Final round will be on the 21st of April, at the all new Nurburgring Nordschleife. Bring it on 🧡
