ASRNZ S1 2024 Season In Review - OES

ASRNZ is a New Zealand based Assetto Corsa Competizione league, where many of the boys and girls within OES compete against one another, and others fighting for glory. We had 14 drivers filter through the 15 race program held over 8 rounds. Hear what some of our drivers had to say below!

Shane Wharerau

"Roller coaster season with ups and downs but heaps of fun. GTR was a real hoot to drive. Wasn’t really in it to win it, but the unfortunate hardware failure of my teammate gave me the championship lead. Only to blow it in the last few rounds with unfortunate incidents. A highlight would be every hard battle I was involved in and the triple podium in the wet at Indy. My low on the other hand would be the opening round, in race 1 getting a DT and driving it back to p2 only to speed in pit lane to get a Stop Go 30, and then sending JC at Imola. Dirty on myself for that.

Next seasons goals… Go 1 better."

Jon Carter

"It's been an awesome season, and I'm delighted to have finished third in the championship after a hard fought series. A surprise highlight was my first experience of racing at Indy. A super sprint weekend with 3 races in wet and chanagble conditions was great fun. Silverstone was another highlight with some close battles with teammates and a good result back "home". Hopefully I can make a title push all the way to the end again next season!"

Ethan Cale

"Where to begin! Having the perfect start to the season, winning 9/9 of the races I competed in (having my drop round week off). Could have asked for it to be any better. followed by a strong result at Imola keeping my hand firmly on that championship trophy. My only goal - finish the next 2 events. A sensor issue in my pedals cost me the race win at Silverstone, resulting a retirement while leading the race for the first 30 minutes. Was unable to compete in the final event, and that saw me drop significantly in the points. Great racing, and the Lambo was a dream to drive in."

Mitchell Campbell

"Season 1 2024, should have produced a good result but it was the one that got away. I teamed with the OES lads having previously operated solo for the better part of my racing. It was time to leverage some of the knowledge from the Alien sim racers out there. Came into the year not really knowing where I’d stack up against the rest but reasonably confident in the McLaren. The season kicked off well with some consistent 2nd placings. The early signs looked like I was going to solidify myself as genuine contender for the championship. The hope of cracking season was then plagued with inconsistent internet gremlins which ultimately put a big dampener on the season before really kicked off. I pressed on and ultimately finished the season with a top 10. All things considered I’ll take it. Here’s hoping to a second season scattered with a little more success"

With a wrap on ASRNZ, no doubt OES will have a strong showing within Season 2 of 2024.
